Sakarya University State Conservatoire
About Us
Sakarya University State Conservatoire was founded in 1997 . After the first “Special Aptitude Exam” the conservatoire started its education in 2000 with 15 students taken to the department of “Basic Sciences”. Other departments ; “ Turkish Music” and “Turkish Folk Dances” were founded on February in 2001. Every year 20 students to each of two departments and 15 students to “Basic Sciences” are accepted .
With exception of other State Conservatoires all the students are obligated to play the piano and at least one instrument from both Western and Turkish Classical Music .During their education they also take lessons from each department.
Sakarya University State Conservatoire gives academic oppurtunity to musicians offering graduate programs. In addition, it soon will offer more training programs in most artistic fields , including singing ,composition , string and wind instruments.
The Conservatoire , through the comprehensive and multifaceted studies it aims to train artists who are educators, researches , music and folk dance teachers or performers in State Choirs ; to take parts in and contribute to international events.
As a pioneer in developing Turkish Culture and Music as well as in Western Classical Music , with the leadership of Ataturk , our main objective is to supply an overall and comprehensive outlook on artistic issue , to provide musicians skilled for national and international needs.
Academic Staff
Academic Staff of the conservatoire consist of interpreter, educator artists and associate proffessors, including research assistants, 23 instructors who have academic and professional backgrounds.
Aptitude Tests
"Special Aptitude Test” is held once a year and is given to applicants on the date and time they are informed of during their application process. These "Special Aptitude Test" administered by a special commission is carried out as two levels in all departments.

Departments
The Department of Basic Musical Sciences (Temel Bilimler Bolumu)
The department of BASIC MUSICAL SCIENCES is based on western
music. Besides, our teaching staff educates and trains musicians to
professional standards also in Turkish Music. The department’s aim is to
offer very best vocational training in both Western and Turkish Music
with a wide range of courses including musicology and solo performance.
The Department of Turkish Folk Dances (Turk Halk Oyunlari Bolumu)
The department of TURKISH FOLK DANCES is based on the
courses of Turkish Folklore, Turkish Culture, Turkish Music
and Choreology. The department seeks to bring its students to
proffessional dancers capable of not only performing Turkish
Folk Dance, Turkish and Western Musics, but also playing an
instrument
The Department of Turkish Music (Turk Muzigi Bolumu)
The department of TURKISH MUSIC offers courses in all
fields of Turkish Folk and Traditional Music. The department
offers courses also in western music. The mission of Turkish
Music department is to bring each of its students to an
intellectual understanding of Turkish Culture and Turkish
Music.
